Monet’s Garden

April 17, 2016 By Blair Yohannan

In art this week we read ‘Philippe in Monet’s Garden’ by Lisa Carmack. We talked about
Monet’s large garden with the pond and how he loved to paint the flowers at different times
of the day because of the light. We looked at several paintings, as well as photographs, of
Monet’s Water Lilies. The children compared the various paintings and the colors he used. A
demonstration was given to show the style and technique Monet used to paint the Water
Lilies. The children were encouraged to make their own paintings of water lilies in the style
of Claude Monet.
